Some buttons on your POS are useful for service and communication within your team. However, they are not strictly menu items that, when recorded in your sales mix, are actually related to your cost of goods sold (COGS).

Some fairly classic examples are still present, even with the most modern POS, while other systems do not require programming additional keys. These "menu items" will be visible in Piecemeal when you import your sales manually or if they are integrated because we receive a unique POS Item ID, just like all other regular items.

Do the top sellers on your dashboard look like this?!:

Not very accurate or ideal! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

How to tell Piecemeal to ignore data from these fake menu items

First, once logged into the platform, locate the unwanted item among the list of your menu items.

Why not simply delete this item, you say? ๐Ÿ‘‚

Remember that adding sales (manually or by integration) will automatically recreate the item, as long as its POS ID is not already present in your list of items. So your effort will be in vain! ๐Ÿ™…

Then, in the item sheet, locate the line 'Include in Mix' and its Yes/No option.

  • Set the button to 'No' so that the item is no longer included โŒ

  • Click again to change it to 'Yes' and to keep it โœ…

Do you have several items to process in this way and want to save time? ๐ŸŽ

From the list, select multiple items at once and the 'Batch Edit' option will become visible:

There you go, your dashboard should be more relevant now! โœจ
